カナダ留学記　7

いろいろ買い物に廻ったたわりには必要最小限のものしか買ってませんでした。
Although many places were visited, only very basic necessities had been bought.

部屋に洗濯ものを干すスタンド（ルームメイトと割り勘で一人４ドル）
A clothes rack to hang wet clothes; $4 each sharing with a roommate.

太陽光発電のスタンド１５００円と電子レンジ用食器一枚５０円。なかなか倹約頑張っています。

虫歯には絶対ならないように予防用の口内洗浄液。。。つまらないものばかりですが、学生ですから、こんなもんで十分でしょう。
A solar panel-ed lamp for 1500 yen, and microwaveable dishes for 50 yen, mouthwash... For a student with a tight budget, not bad :)

カナダ留学記　6

買い物の続きです。トロントのＩＫＥＡです。

Continuing with shopping; Toronto's IKEA.

ホットドッグはcostcoとおなじシステムでトッピング自由。やや小さめですが５０￠（カナダドル）とは爆安です。

Hotdogs have the same system as costco; take all the toppings you want. A little small, yes, but only 50 cents.

見た目はビールですが、友人のおすすめで梨のサイダーを買って飲んでみました。
美味しかった。

Looks like beer, but it's swiss pear cider; a recomondation of a friend. It was very tasty.

ショッピングセンター内にいた犬。

繋がれて、飼い主さんの、帰りを待っていました。
顔が嬉しそうです。
He was waiting for his owner, while being tied to the bench. He looked really happy.

カナダ留学記　5

カナダトロントの costco

Costco in Toronto, Canada. (Up in North York by the way, could take the TTC, but best to have a car :))

寮の皆と新しい生活がはじまったものの、まだ少し生活用品が不足していたので週末、仲間と買出しに出かけてきました。

Fresh new term w/room-mates and dorm-friends, but we still had a few necessities, so we decided to go out shopping.

日本でもおなじみＣＯＳＴＣＯ安くて結構イケるフードコートですが、ここにはハワイにも日本にもない、ハンバーガーが！(◎皿◎)!!　

Costco, just as popular as in Japan. The food court's cheap and not so bad ;) But wait, there's more! Hamburgers!--- not found in neither Hawaii nor Japan...

トッピングは、自由です。サラダバーみたい。

Take whatever topping you want; it's like a salad bar.

そのあと、アジア系のスーパーにも連れて行ってもらい、そこでは面白いショッピングカートを皆が使っていました。

Also a short drive away was an Asian version of Costco (a little smaller, yes, but with the sample-ing and food-court), where they had these interesting shopping carts.

下に車がついていて、ころころと引いて行けます。

They have wheels on the bottom so you can drag it.

カナダ留学記　4

どこの大学もそうですが、キャンパスが広大です。娘もまだ一部しか把握できていないらしいのですが、
ここは、授業が夜９時に終わる日もあり、夕飯の時間に間に合うためには「ダッシュ」して寮まで帰らないといけないので寮生は、みな必死とのこと。

I guess it might be that way in every college campus, but this campus was so big, only parts of it had been seen yet. There are days when classes finish at 9 at night, and you could get back in time for dinner; running across the field to get to the cafeteria is common, but I guess running on this nice grass is not too bad :)

こんな芝生なら走っても気持ちよさそう。。。

カナダ留学記　3

あたらしい寮生のための歓迎会がありました。夕方からディナークルーズです。オンタリオ湖にて
The orientation for new comers in residence. Dinner cruise in the evening @ Lake Ontario.

カナダのシンボルタワーＣＮタワー（Canadian National Tower）上海や横浜等色々な所にこんなようなタワーがあり
A landmark in Canada, the Canadian National Tower. Shanghai, Yokohama... I guess we see one of these big guys in every city ;)

ちょうど満月が登り始めました。赤くてきれい

The full moon is just about to rise; beautifully scarlet, it was!

日が沈むと夜景もきれいです。

When the sun goes down, the night scenery reveals its beauty as well.

カナダ留学記　2

いろいろなところにリスはいますが、真っ黒なのは初めてです。(°Д°)he~ ねずみ？

There are many squirrels in many places, but I've never seen such black ones...

歓迎の日の学食（いつもよりはちょっと豪華ってことです）　完食してたら太りそう。。。

野菜やフルーツが多いのは親として安心です。スープは意外にイケるとの事です。(o^冖^o)

Here's an example of a meal at the cafeteria (she mentioned it was on the "better days"); looks like a lot of weight can be gained after eating ALL of that...
But as a parent, it's nice to know there are lots of fruits and vegetables. Personal comment: it's Carrot and Ginger Cream Soup, interesting taste but not bad actually.

カナダ留学記　1

長女がカナダに留学のため飛び立ってはや一週間

いまは昔と違って　「インターネット」や　「Ｓkype」　があるから、あまり遠さを感じませんね。

これから長女が送ってきたカナダの写真や情報も順次載せていきたいと思います。
A week has gone by already since my daughter has gone on her exchange program to Canada, but with "Internet" and "Skype" these days, it doesn't feel that far :) I'd like to post a few pictures she'd sent me up anyway ;)

成田からバンクーバーに飛んで、そこからエアーカナダに乗り換え。From Narita to Vancouver, then transfer to Air Canada.

インフルエンザ予防のマスクもしながら何とか無事に到着。With a mask to prevent flu, finally, arrival in Canada.

２人用の寮の部屋はきれいに片づけてありました。The double room was neatly made.

お城のような外観A library that looks like a castle.

ゆっくり本が読めそうです。Looks like peaceful time with a book will be found here.

バンコック　御土産　編

　タイでのお買い物

「３人で」　２万円しか両替しなかったけどいろいろ買えました。（食事代も含む）

We exchanged a total of only 20,000 yen (about $200) for the three of us, but we managed to buy many things!

食べ物　　coconuts powder （カレーに入れます。） Food.

ヤードム（以前は薬事法の関係？で、日本では未発売のようでしたが、ようやく緩和され始めたようです。きのう薬局で一つ似たような商品を見つけました。）

　鼻が詰まっている時、リフレッシュしたい時、眠い時などに鼻に「ヤードム」を少し挿して「す～」っと吸い込むと、ミントの香りですっきりです。

Yhadom. Very useful when your nose feels stuffy, you want to feel refreshed, or feeling sleepy. Just inhale the sent, and the minty sensation will releave you (NOT a drug).　ラリ吉さんにおすすめ（笑）

自分たちの洋服や友人の服、友人の「犬の服」

Clothes for our selves & friends... and a friend's dog :)

雑貨、アクセサリー　ミニ仏陀は結構値切って買えました。満足　　　＼(*^▽^*)/:

Souveniers, accessories, miniature Buddhas. We bartered quite well for these; very satisfied indeed!

バンコック　　タイマッサージ　編

地下鉄「ラマ9世駅」1番出口を出ると「グランド・メルキュール・フォーチュンホテル」があり、そこにテスコロータス等ショッピングが出来るビルが並んでいる。

そこの２階はマッサージ屋さんがいくつか軒を連ねていて、一番安かったのが
　「health house」
タイマッサージ　一時間　２００バーツ（６００円）！！

夜９時まで入店可
　　（わたしは連日

通っちゃった～。安いし～。）

Out from subway station "Phara Lama 9" exit #1, the Grand Mercule Fortune Hotel will welcome you, followed by small shopping center buildings. On the second floor, a few massage stores are lined up, but the bestly priced was "Health House," with Thai style massage at 200 bahts/hr. (aprx. $6), until 9 o'clock at night.

毎日沢山歩いて、超疲れたけど

翌日元気に回復できたのはここの御蔭様です！

最後の日は娘たちも参加、旅の疲れを残さずに日本に帰れました。

After walking for miles every day we were quite exausted, but we could always start afresh thanks to this. On the final day my daughters joined as well, and we were able to leave our sore feet in Thailand before comming back to Japan, taking with us only the good memories :)

バンコック　乗り物　編

いろいろな乗り物に乗りました。免税店では最寄りの駅まで、「トゥクトゥク」で送迎。楽しくて２回も乗っちゃいました。We were able to ride a great many things during our stay; at the duty free a "Tuk tuk" took us to the nearest station for free. This shuttle service was so much fun, we'd rode it twice :)

綺麗な色（私好みです）のタクシーA lovely colored taxi!
ぼられないようにと何回か乗りましたが、よく考えてみるとぼられても大したことないかも。。。初乗り（２キロまで）ホンの１００円くらいで乗れちゃいます。We've ridden a few times, taking caution not to be overcharged; come to think of it, its not much they can take from you... it only costs $1 for the first 2km.

シルバーシートのところには席を譲ってあげるべきお方がたの絵が。。。タイらしいThe priority seats in Thai--- for these people you must offer your seat...
